Prometheus frowned in confusion, and everyone seemed to exchange looks, some of the shock fading from Lahabrea and Elidibus's faces to be replaced with consternation.

"Mortal costume?" he asked slowly.

"Dragon eggs take only a few weeks to hatch," Hythlodaeus quickly interjected, ignoring the annoyed look Prometheus gave him, "Dragon children mature fast, despite their near immortal lives. Somewhat opposite to Amaurotine childhood development. Ha..."

"But," Hythlodaeus added sternly, "They need to be warmed constantly for those few weeks. Normally the paired dragons take egg warming shifts, so, er..."
