[It started small, at first. The foreshadowing was, possibly, the comment of the Day Care Lady saying that a bug was going around the children, but Yamato had, of course, dismissed such comments. Why should he care about a bug? He only interacted with two of the children at the day care centre, and besides, he was too smart to get sick.

Smart people never got sick. Ever.

True fact.

Which was why Yamato had the occasional tickling cough, the every so often sniffle, and a general, weary feeling, he didn't actually think much of it. The cold weather normally made him feel crummy, so this was nothing new. He just had to sleep a bit more and he'd be fine when the weather warmed.

Of course, that didn't happen.

Instead what happened was that overnight, Yamato's (admittedly frail) health took a nosedive into Suffering Land. He woke up an hour before he had to get ready for school, feeling like someone stuffed his head full of cotton wool, a desert had set up shop in his throat, and his lungs got bashed 'til bruising by a steel pipe.

In short, he felt bad.

Really bad.

So the next thing Yamato did was crawl out of the futon he shared with his caretaker, shivering like crazy, and tottered groggily to the bathroom, taking care to be quiet. Urk. He felt bad! He wanted to die...! But, nh, he was smart enough to look after himself, so...that's what he'd do...!

A drink of water and then back to bed. Then he'd wake up fine!

Thankfully, to save Yamato having to climb the counter in the kitchens whenever he had to grab a glass of water, they fixed it so that there was always an empty glass beside the bathroom sink, easily filled up whenever Yamato wanted (there was a stool before the sink in the bathroom you see).

He climbed the stool, grabbed the glass, and turned the tap on, filling it up. He glared at his sickly looking reflection, turning the tap off...and hurriedly set the glass aside when he felt an uncomfortable tickling sensation suddenly attack his throat. He tried to suppress it, but...

He coughed. Loudly and painfully. Oooow, his lungs...!!]
